REV. DANIEL NEWHAM OBITUARY 1851 |
---|
The tolling of Saint Peter's bell yesterday morning at 5 o'clock, announced the departure from this life of the Rev. Daniel Newham, Private Chaplain to the Bishop of Melbourne, and Incumbent of St. Peter's.
For many weeks past Mr. Newham has been confined to his room, and although it was evident to his friends that he would not recover, he seemed to think that he would, even after his medical attendants ceased to hold out the slightest hope.
The lamented gentleman was concious to the last moment, and died as he had lived during the whole of his pious and useful life, "in the sure and certain hope of a joyful resurrection hereafter." - "Herald"
